Hi, I am Andrea, the blogger behind www.sweetsunflowers.com. In love with ballet, iPhone Photography and simple vegan food. I am a life coach (and help) that helps introverted and kind hearted people through art, including dance, photography and writing.

I live in Vienna, Austria, with my family and two cats, John and Cleo, in a cozy apartment. My first language is German but I write in English, because I love experimenting with new ways to communicate. One quote, by Martha Graham, has accompanied me since I started dancing when I was 15. “Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion.” So, your passion, seeking spirit and open heart is all you need to have a better relationship with yourself and everyone around you.

Actually one of my favorite seasons is right now. It is Christmas time. I love to see windows decorated with holiday lights. As every year I decorate an Advent garland of fir branches with 4 candles. This year the color of the candles is golden. These last months I unfortunately didn´t find time to dance as much I would have loved to. So, what I did: I booked cards for the opera to see Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite in December at the Vienna opera house. It would not be Christmas without this lovely ballet. Right?

Today I am going to share my (secret) favorite “Christmas Chocolate Cookie” recipe with you. I love it because it is easy, simple and vegan. You can eat the raw dough without danger because there are no eggs included. Oh, I always leave a bit of the dough – or more than a bit – in the bowl. It tastes so delicious. You should try it, too. But stop before there is nothing left to bake.

Ingredients:

200 g dark chocolate

100 ml plant oil (I use frying oil which is some kind of soft sunflower oil)

180 g cane sugar

1 vanilla bean or grounded vanilla essence

2 tbsp apple sauce

120 ml plant milk (soya, rice or oat milk)

pitch of salt

120 g flour

2 tsp baking powder

Decoration:

powdered sugar

grounded pimento

Preparation:

Preheat the oven to 160°C

Chop the chocolate coating and melt it in a hot water bath.

Halve the vanilla pods lengthways and scrape out the soft pulp

Put all ingredients in the mixer, and stir slowly until smooth.

Using a teaspoon scoop up small amounts of mixture (walnut size) and using a second teaspoon place the mixture on the sheet in about 6 cm intervals.

Bake the cookies for 15-25 minutes (depending on the size of your cookies), then let them cool down

Sprinkle with powder sugar and grounded pimento.

On my blog www.sweetsunflowers.com you find a lot of vegan recipes I all tried by myself. If you want to bake an awesome cake you find “Death by Chocolate” here. Or you need a pancake inspiration for a sweet breakfast

Besides recipes, I created the Photo Book “Sparkling Colors” for you to enjoy with all your senses during a break or in a silent moment with a cup of coffee. It is a lovely ebook and an invitation to escape from daily life and dig into a world of colorful beauty. Additionally, this book will make you dance. “Sparkling Colors” also makes a perfect Christmas present.
